About Me:
Many of you know me as Anna Swem, but my married name is Slater. I live in Issaquah Highlands with my husband Paul and our dog Wilson. My hobbies include politics, baseball, music, Washington beer and wine. I own a massage therapy practice, which has been located in Redmond for the last 8 years, and I am hoping to bring it to Issaquah some day. I've lived 24 out of my 26 years in Washington. I love the state and all it has to offer with a passion.
I am the youngest of 7 children, and grew up in a socially conservative Mormon household. In effect my mother is the ultimate values voter, so I understand these people very clearly. But I’ve always seen the world a little differently to the rest of my family, and I’m proud to say that I’ve recently converted a few of my siblings to the middle-left.
Like many of you, I first saw Barack Obama the day he gave the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in 2004. He brought tears to my eyes that evening, and helped me to see the country through a new light. I saw his vision of unity, his passion and his hope. I knew without a doubt that he would someday be president of the United States, and committed myself to helping make that happen. I have donated and volunteered multiple times since then, and will continue to do so until November and beyond.
I feel that our nation is in pain right now, focused on what divides us. Barack Obama is uniquely positioned to change that. He can help us to restore our peace and prosperity at home, and revive our standing in the world. America can once again truly lead the world by example, and with his leadership, we will.
