Sorry to delay my approval for your comments. I didn't realize they were there. Yet another problem with this site.

How did it go with Patrick?

Hi Allison! Thanks for your comment, and sorry that it's taken me a while to comment back. Your insights on Ning is very interesting. I think the problem you are facing is what I'm concerned about -- will people use it if we do create it? What do we have to do to make it compelling? Is it a case of "If you build it they will come"?

Yeah, if we put the effort into creating something like this for us, I would need to feel like it could really be a success, that people would use it, that it would be an asset to the party. We don't currently have a forum for discussion, and Facebook doesn't exactly work for that, so that's my motivation for looking into a platform like this. I'm talking to Patrick on Monday, so I think that could be helpful.

Nevermind my last comment. I joined quickly and thought I was joining a group for democrats in Colorado's Fifth Congressional District. Like I said, that's where I was working for awhile, but now I'm back here in Washington. I'm Michael Powell's campaign manager. Enjoy the convention.

I'm not living in Colorado anymore, actually. I was working on Hal Bidlack's campaign for a couple of months, but I've moved out to Washington State to help a good friend of mine run for the state house out here.

About Me:
My recently-generated identity as a "New Day Democratic" came about as a result of being a very curious person. I wondered how we could live in a country with so many wonderful attributes, and yet have a Government so out of keeping with our spirit?

The roles I play in my life are: mother of two girls (Emma, 15 and Kelly, 9), wife to Russell, Program Manager on contract to Microsoft, voter, citizen, etc. I am a daughter, sister, and global participant. I've lived in Paris and London, and I've travelled the world. My family has a dog called Bear.

For the moment, I'm answering to call to service as a U.S. citizen, and this is my moment to make a difference in the world. I support Barack Obama and look forward to living in the World when he is our President.

Freedom Tears

I cried. I cried so hard I could barely see my ballot to fill in the ovals. I pulled it together long enough to mark every single one, and then inserted my ballot into the machine -- I was the third one counted!

In the parking lot, it was raining, and my tears and the raindrops mingled. Felt so good, such a relief.

I love voting in person, experiencing the lines, the people's "yearning to be free," and to have the physical experience of it. The tears were my catharsis in a way.

A release from… Continue

Election Day & Night Activities - From 5th LD Email

Wave if you're a Democrat

Election Day is here, and some of you may be planning on being "sick" today, have the day off, or might be considering calling in so that you can be involved in the most important election of the last 100 years. If so, please consider the following;

The rally point for the Obama Campaign for Change in the 5th LD is Gibson Hall (the Kiwanis building) directly behind the salmon hatchery in downtown Issaquah. We will be doing sign waving all day at various locations thro… Continue

Watch Out for "Push Pollers!"

One of my neighbors sent me this email on September 9, 2008. Thanks, Rockne!

Hi Allison,

I thought you should know that I received a push poll phone call today trying to trash talk Gregoire. It was clearly a Rossi ploy. Nothing infuriates me more than this type of negative campaigning. You may want to spread the news that this is happening in the Sammamish Precincts, I'll be mentioning it as I reach out to neighbors.
