I read a piece in Craigslist Politics this morning "What do YOU think?" It simply had a link to a video story by ABC News:

...Now for the rest of the story:
Empty at 10:00 am? No problem. Many airports are empty at 10:00 am. A morning flight and two evening flights bring in and out salespeople that are working in the area. ABC news of course films a family leaving Johnstown on vacation not encountering a lot of hassle at security. But small airports are like that.
My initial thoughts were why would anyone take a commuter flight to and from Washington DC IAD instead of DCA? What if the destination is Johnstown, not Washington DC? Johnstown is in the process of transforming from a "rust belt" town to a center of economic activity. They have Infomation Technology, Defense, Life Sciences, Academic Institutions and a Business Assistance Network. ABC news left out all the new well paying jobs being created in the area due to the airport and other infrastructure being built. Check out

What ABC news also "conveniently" leaves out is that the John Murtha Johnstown-Cambria County Airport (JST) is being used for military and civil aviation purposes as well.

Compare it to another nearby small county airport like University Park Airport in State College, PA (SCE). Their flights go to IAD (Washington Dulles) , Detroit, and Philadelphia. I'm sure they subsidize flights there too and I bet it's also empty at 10:00 in the morning. So what's the big news?
Another question to as yourself: Where can a big jet liner make an emergency landing? Shanksville, PA.? Just think if some things happened differently on 9/11, they might have landed Flight 93 at this little "sleepy" county airport.
I think the ABC news crew either purposely or recklessly left out the details and created a biased piece of propaganda. The real news is that there is a lot going for Johnstown and their airport. Now the question to ask is why can't our Representatives in Congress create jobs like John Murtha?
